About the soul department
The Soul Department are based in the West Midlands and are a nine-piece collective of first class musicians and singers, guaranteed to make the very best of your special occasion. From weddings and parties to corporate events and functions, we have an enviable reputation for professional performances with excellent sound quality and lighting, playing all the songs you know and love (and some you have forgotten!).
The band have been together for many years with performances and recommendations that do credit to our musicians and singers who give their all, time after time.
Singers
Joe is our charismatic front man and lead singer with the versatility to handle the raunchiest of numbers to the softest of ballads. Joining Joe out front of the band is Lydia, our powerhouse female singer complimenting Joe in lead and backing vocals. In addition, a number of the band perform vocal harmonies, giving real depth and quality to the music that few bands match.
Musicians
The back line to our Department are a rock solid, four-piece foundation of top class players consisting of drums, bass, guitar and keyboards with soul in their blood. The icing on the cake comes in the form of a 3-piece horn section of two saxes and a trumpet, with the saxes doubling on baritone, tenor and alto.

We particularly wanted a soul band and during our seemingly endless search of bands we were just drawn to The Soul Department! They played at our evening wedding reception earlier this month.
Good reviews usually state pros and cons however, the band genuinely do not have any cons! They were professional from the onset, sounded incredible, looked incredible, great repertoire, were brilliant fun and had our wedding party rockin'!!! From start to finish they had our guests on their feet, we loved every minute! Exactly what we wanted! Cannot recommend these guys enough, worth their weight in gold, definitely will book them again, no question!!
